Mobile Spotlight: CDC Contraception 2010 (Free App)

Created by the CDC with guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use 2010 (CDC Contraception 2010) is an app that allows health care professionals to review different types of contraceptives and the factors that may influence the individual suitability of each type of contraceptive for each of their individual patients.

For example, if a patient would like to switch from a barrier method of contraception to combined hormonal contraceptives, this app allows a doctor to review risk factors and evaluate the suitability of that switch for the patient. These factors include age, smoking status, current reproductive tract infections and disorders, and obesity and history of bariatric surgery, among others.

This app is a free download from iTunes, and is designed for both iPhone and iPad. Click here to download this app now.
