The new Micromedex® Drug Interactions app for iPhone/iTouch and iPad is NOW AVAILABLE for FREE to all Micromedex users. With the Drug Interactions app, clinicians can check a patient's entire list of medications for potentially harmful interactions. Warnings include severity, onset, evidence, adverse effects, and more. Micromedex customers can activate the app using the password included with the instructions on the MOBILE webpage. A Matas Library Exhibit on The Bogalusa Heart Study and Gerald S. Berenson, MD.

Finding the answers to fundamental questions about heredity, diet, and environmental aspects of early coronary artery disease and essential hypertension became the life work of Tulane alumnus and cardiologist, Dr. Gerald S. Berenson. This exhibit highlights the Bogalusa Heart Study, featuring the Health Ahead/Heart Smart curriculum, a few of Dr. Berenson's many awards, newspaper articles, books, and other ephemera.

Visit the library to view the exhibit, The Bogalusa Heart Study: Gerald S. Berenson, MD. - Comprehensive—and ahead of his time, which will remain open through the summer.

Dr. Gerald Berenson started the Bogalusa Heart study in 1973 and continued his research for the next 39 years. Watch a video about this groundbreaking research study.

There is new subscription key for embase.com

There is new subscription key for embase.com for Tulane University. Contact the Matas Library, medref@tulane.edu, with your tulane email account to request a new key. You may also stop by the Library desk to request the new embase.com key. You will need to be on the Tulane network to add the new key to your embase.com account. You should still be able to access your personal account on the Tulane network. In the top right hand corner (Login) there is an option for “Profile”. You will have an option to add the new key to your account after the log in under the Profile option. Please let us know if you have problems. The Matas Library regrets any inconvenience. The subscription key will allow off campus access to embase.com. Do not share or publicize this key.

Historical T-Waves and Jambalayas are online!

Historical Tulane yearbooks have been scanned for online access. These past yearbooks are available in the Internet Archive. This digital collection contains the complete run of the Jambalaya yearbook (1896-2008), as well as issues of the T-Wave, the yearbook of the Tulane University School of Medicine which began publication in 1982.

Thanks go to the University Archives for the planning and implementation of this scanning project. University Archives is a department within Tulane University's Special Collections Division of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library which preserves the official records of Tulane University.

Search T-Wave to find the School of Medicine yearbooks since 1982. Search within the volumes for your kin that graduated in years past.

Embase.com has conference abstracts! - MEDLINE alone is not enough to find abstracts and posters.

Keep up to date with the latest biomedical research with the conferences coverage provided in the Embase database licensed by the Matas Library. Embase now covers more than 800 conferences with over 270,000 conference abstracts. Embase has over 7,500 peer-reviewed journal titles with over 60 topic area, 30 core clinical and pharmacology topics that represent 70% of Embase content. Embase has over 24 million records with PubMed having 20 million citations. A quarter of the Embase content is unique.

With conference coverage in over 30 drug, clinical and device-related topics, Embase is a resource that must be included in your literature searches.
