Science Education Videos from JoVE
Since our library subscribes to the JoVE Science Education video database, our institution now has free access to the two newest modules, Essentials of Genetics and Essentials of Cell Biology, until December 31, 2015.
Our subscription currently includes General Laboratory Techniques and Basic Methods in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
The JoVE Science Education module includes 15 unique videos describing fundamental concepts and laboratory methods for a specific field, and 75 peer-reviewed video articles that demonstrate application of these methods to actual research at leading academic institutions.

Postdoc free access program from Elsevier/Science Direct
From Elsevier publishing:
- An opportunity for postdoctoral scholars

- Postdoc free access program
- Application deadline: 30th June 2015
- Step 1: Complete the 3-part application form; it will take you about 10-15 minutes.
- Step 2: You must submit a scanned image of a letter from your last academic mentor/advisor that states the position you have held and the date on which your position ends or ended and explains why you would be eligible to receive free access to ScienceDirect. The letter must be on official letterhead stationery of the department or host institution. We recommend that you first obtain this letter and create a scanned image file of it before completing the form.
- You have become unemployed after 1 July 2014, or have a project ending before 30 June 2015. AND
- You have received your PhD in the last 5 years.
