Featured Public Health Publication: Lead Author Wenjie Sun

The article Are Depressive Symptoms Associated with Cardiovascular Mortality Among Older Chinese: A Cohort Study of 64,000 in Hong Kong? will be published in the November edition of The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry. The lead author, Wenjie Sun, is a post-doctoral associate in  Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine's Department of Global Environmental Health Sciences.

While the print version appears in November, the e-pub ahead of print is now available through PubMed. To find this article through the Matas Library website, select the PubMed@TU tab on our homepage, enter the article's PMID: 23567371, and click on the green TULink icon in PubMed.

The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) celebrates National Health Education Week during the 3rd week of October. This year's theme is "The Role of Health Education Specialists in Implementing the Affordable Care Act."

Bake Sale for Matas Library Heart Walk Team

On Thursday, October 17th, the Matas Library will be holding a bake sale to raise money for our Heart Walk Team. We will have a selection of items- some heart-healthy and some not-so-heart-healthy (but delicious!).

We are also accepting donations at the Circulation Desk in exchange for candy or satsumas, a local citrus fruit. Any donation helps, even a quarter.

The New Orleans Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at LaSalle Park near Zephyr Field in Metairie, LA. Check out www.neworleansheartwalk.org for more information.
