Important news about Word 2016 and RefWorks Write n Cite for Mac users

Refworks Write n Cite will NOT work on Apple OSX 10 Yosemite running Word 2016. Several work arounds are available but they require downloading Word 2011 and using the One Line One Cite View in RefWorks. So basically users will not get the easy way to drop in references and format your bibliography automatically in Word.

In addition, Mac users running 10.9 and up Yosemite need to download Java to their computer to install Write in Cite.

d. Please make sure you have a current installation of Java on your computer by visiting the Java download site. (Note: an update of your Java will request the installation of a third-party toolbar for Ask.com. You will need to be aware that you need to decline the installation of this toolbar to avoid its installation.)
Mac Users:  Please make sure to verify Java is installed on your computer as the newest operating systems offered by Apple, OS X 10.9 and OS X 10.10, do not include Java.  To check if your computer has the latest version of Java installed please open the Safari web browser and visit,http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp. Note: If you are running OS X 10.9.5 or OS X 10.10 Yosemite, please download Java from Apple's support site directly by visiting, http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572.

New printers in the Matas Library

Rudolph Matas Library would like to announce some big changes regarding printing in the library.

The library has acquired two high-speed black & white printers, located in the 24/7 Quiet Area hallway. The color printer is still available in that location as well.

The older printers in the Mezzanine Computer Lab and the library lobby have been removed. All print jobs should be retrieved from the 24/7 Quiet Area hallway, regardless of where they are printed from.

Important news regarding EndNote and Office 365/Word 2016

We have been receiving reports of difficulty using the EndNote Cite While You Write plug-in with Microsoft Word 2016 and Office 365. Below is a message from Thomson Reuters with a solution:

For Windows, it is possible to install the CWYW tools manually and you can find information and instructions at http://endnote.com/kb/137576. For Macintosh, we are working on a CWYW plug-in that will be compatible with Office 2016 on Mac, but it is not done yet. A public beta for it was released today. If you would like to beta test, or know others who would like to beta test, you can register as a beta tester at http://endnote.com/betasignup.

If you decide to beta test, please back up all documents and libraries before testing. Beta versions of software are not stable and may have issues, so it is best not to use them with important data, especially do not use them on important data without backing up that data first.
